So, before we start our (hopefully final) weekend of snagging jobs, I’ve finished piecing together the transformation video of our living room/dining room and am ready to share it!
We recorded a lot of the DIY we’ve been doing over the past few months. From the moment we stepped over the threshold of our house, poor Tom and other family members have been subjected to a GoPro being shoved in their faces, numerous photo requests and room progression videos taken. I wouldn’t even let the removals men start unloading until I’d done a walk through of the entire house #sorrynotsorry. I’ve exhausted almost all of my GoPro accessories and purchased more along the way and I’m surprised my iPhone has survived the 8 months of DIY without a builders case on it.
Nevertheless, I’m glad we’ve captured so much footage as it’s made looking back on the whole experience that much more real and satisfactory. I’ve always loved watching the home makeover programmes and seeing the before and after’s, so naturally I wanted to put something together for my own home.
Rather than bore you with a 20 minute long video of the whole house, I’m piecing the footage together, room by room. Now I’ve got a bit more time on my hands and I’m being forced to not walk much due to my foot injury, it seems like a good time to do some editing. I’m not using any special software, just iMovie and the footage was all captured on either a GoPro Hero4 or iPhone7. There’s unstable and shaky video, wonky and blurred pictures and lots I know that could be improved with the quality of filming and editing, but getting the DIY done right and quickly was the priority, not the filming so this time, it’s the best we’ve got :).
Rather than embed them here, I’ve set up a YouTube channel alongside this, so head over here and take a look https://youtu.be/0Gz75Rd2Cu0 or search hayleyshomediy on YouTube. Make sure you select the highest quality video available on your device.
